Select Medical (NYSE: 2001)
In 1996, Mr. Ortenzio founded Select Medical with Robert A. Ortenzio. Based in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Select Medical is one of the largest operators of specialty hospitals, outpatient rehabilitation clinics and occupational health centers in the United States based on the number of facilities. The company has more than 41,000 dedicated and talented employees in 46 states and the District of Columbia. Select Medical currently provides inpatient care at more than 100 long-term acute care hospitals and nearly 20 medical rehabilitation hospitals. This includes the prestigious Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation, which is consistently recognized as one of "America's Best Hospitals" by U.S. News & World Report. Select Medical also operates more than 1,600 outpatient physical rehabilitation centers and through its joint venture subsidiary, Concentra, operates approximately 300 occupational health centers. In addition, Concentra provides contract services at employer worksites and Department of Veterans Affairs community-based outpatient clinics. Select Medical's parent company is Select Medical Holdings Corporation, which is listed on the New York Stock Exchange as SEM.

Continental Medical SystemsContinental Medical Systems (NYSE: 1986)
Prior to Select Medical, Rocco and Robert Ortenzio founded Continental Medical Systems, Inc. (CMS) in 1986. CMS consisted of 38 freestanding rehabilitation hospitals, as well as outpatient clinics, contract therapy and physician staffing services. Mr. Ortenzio served as the company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer until July 1995, when it merged with Horizon Healthcare Corporation. At the time of the merger, CMS employed more than 16,000 employees nationwide.

Rehab Hospital Services Corporation (NASDAQ: 1982)
In 1979, Mr. Ortenzio founded his second company: Rehab Hospital Services Corporation (RHSC). The company constructed and operated the first chain of community-based freestanding rehabilitation hospitals in the United States. The company later merged with National Medical Enterprises (NME), now known as Tenet Healthcare, in 1985. Mr. Ortenzio remained with NME and continued as President and CEO of RHSC until 1986.

Rehab Corporation (NASDAQ: 1972)
Mr. Ortenzio founded his first company -- Rehab Corporation -- in 1969. The company provided specialized health care services and pioneered a nationwide chain of outpatient cardiac rehabilitation clinics. Mr. Ortenzio served as its Chairman and Chief Executive Officer from 1969 until Rehab Corporation merged with American Sterilizer Company (NYSE: AMSCO) in 1974. He continued with American Sterilizer Company until 1977 and served as Chairman and CEO of the Rehab Division.
